NOTHING LIKE YOUR REGULAR SURFCOACH

These weeks will not* be about the very beginner basics but about how to take control in the ocean. It’s not your average beginner information but the in-depth information we need to learn to not only “survive” but actually “thrive” during our sessions!

You’ll improve your understanding of:

  1. Mindset

  2. Technical skills

  3. Physical movements

  4. Surfboard dynamics

* (Beginner basics will only be discussed if needed in your specific coaching situation. <3)

“I appreciated how Pepijn identified a few key limiting factors in my performance that I should prioritize in my upcoming sessions and the months ahead.

He expertly distilled the information, ensuring I wasn’t overwhelmed, and clearly explained the goals we needed to achieve.”

- Ru Hill (Owner of Surf Simply)

  • SURFinn Vieux Boucau is a luxury surf style B&B in the South of France, 100m from the beach. The beautiful villa is located in the perfect place for a surftrip.

With one of the best beachbreaks in the world on a short ride away we’re pretty sure to score some good waves during the trip. But we’ll be far away enough to also score more empty waves on the beach in front of the house.

(Video above is from the location itself. Kids not included in the coachingweek.)

  • An extensive breakfast buffet is available every day. You can choose from different types of bread and toppings. But also fresh baked granola and often the hosts provide an extra surprise at breakfast. You can ofcourse have unlimited coffee, fruit juices, water and tea.

If a very early morning session is planned, we will provide a pre-breakfast snack, so that you do not go into the water with an empty stomach. After this session you can still expect a delicious breakfast.

We’ll have warm lunch made for us in the morning to take-away to the spot or eaten together at home.

Extra lunch or snacks can be made as a take-away from the breakfast buffet.

  • The hosts creates a 'Special Dinner' five times during this coachingweek. And in addition to the delicious food, this also ensures pleasant evenings in the garden of the SURFinn. Playing games, listening or making music, playing ping-pong or talking about the lessons you’ve learned that day. Below you can read what you can expect:

All the dinners can be either vegetarian or vegan.

On the two nights without dinner you have the chance to try one restaurants with typical Portugese cuisines in the neighbourhood or the amazing international restaurants close by.

  • A standard room is a shared room with two surfers from the coachingweek. It’s important to me to have the option of going to your own quiet and semi-private space to rest and digest from the liveliness of the week.

Would you rather have your own room for yourself or, for example, with your surf buddy, we can arrange that for you (depending on availability). Write this request down in the notes during your booking and we will get back to you with the options.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach me via whatsapp on +316-45778753.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Before the start of the week we will organize carpooling options between the surfers to travel to the location and throughout the week to go to spots other than in front of the the villa.

Carpooling is not only good for mother nature but also for our wallet (and it’s just more fun). We then count on the fact that the costs will be split among the passengers themselves.

Are you not coming with by car? Then we strongly recommend a rental car (or joining a carpool at the location).

A rental car is fastest way to travel to and from the airport and during the week. All major car rental companies are represented, look for an overview on one of the comparison websites such as https://www.autoeurope.com/

  • Arrival day: Saturday
We have our rooms from 16.00pm. You can arrive earlier if wanted/needed and leave your stuff safely to go for a surf before the full coachingweek starts.

Departure day: Saturday (7 days later)
We have to leave our rooms before 11.00am so the house can be cleaned fully for the next guests. You can leave your stuff safely at the house if you want to check-out a little later.

    Daily planning is:
    - Totally dependable on the surf forecast and tides

    Sunrise - 11AM:
    - Surfcoaching/video-session

    11AM - 17PM:
Free time for more surfing, reading, chilling, finding a good French bakery, 1-on-1 analysis and enjoying your holiday.

    17PM-21PM:
Group video analysis + dinner together.

Every coachingweek is different depending on the people, weather, waves and tide.

  • A cliché in the surfing world is the often-heard 'the best surfer is the one with the most fun' and that is certainly the case during the coaching week. Nevertheless, it is good to point out that beginners (level 1) are not recommended to participate in this.

For these reasons, we would like to set a few minimum requirements to participate in the intensive surf coaching week

    • You have followed at least a beginner surfing course (e.g. during a week of surf camp)

    • You can paddle out independently in the most common conditions (until headhigh waves)

    • You can do a take-off independently and surf left and right

    • You often surf 'green waves', so surf on the unbroken part of the wave.

It is also important to know that the coaching week is certainly not for the pros. The level between the participants can and will always be different, but because of the small groups and personal approach, the surfcoach can help each participant to improve their specific surfing skills.

You can check your surflevel via iampepijn.nl/surflevel

  • When your chosen week is fully booked we’ll make a whatsapp group and organise carpooling in/to France.

This way we are all assured to have the cheapest and least polluting transportation to the location and during the trip (often needed when we go to other spots).

  • Yes, just go through the booking process and you can pre-pay 30% of the trip now to reserve your spot and pay the rest a few weeks before we leave to the trip.

  • Taking your own board(s) is recommended. I recommend a small and a big-wave board so that most ranges of waves are covered.

Going by car is the easiest to take boards, you can strap them on the roof of the car (with softracks).

Airlines can take your board for (sometimes) an extra fee and this is definitely not a luxury.

Do you need a travel boardbag for your boards? Rent one with 10% discount via boardbagger.nl if you use the code “Pepijn” at check-out. (Available in NL/BE)
